The curriculum contains 42 modules arranged in a deliberate pedagogical sequence. It begins with tool fundamentals and stroke anatomy, then progresses chronologically through seven historical scripts: Roman square capitals, Uncial, Insular half-uncial, Carolingian minuscule, Gothic textura, Humanist minuscule, and italic hand. Each script section includes historical context, ductus diagrams, guided letter practice, and word-level exercises. Yes. All content is entirely self-paced. There are no enrolment deadlines, no cohort schedules, and no time limits. You may revisit any module as often as you like and take as long as you need between study sessions. Calligraphy rewards patient, deliberate practice — rushing through stroke exercises rarely produces good results. We encourage learners to spend multiple sessions on a single module before moving to the next.

Video tutorials tend to demonstrate isolated techniques — a specific letter, a particular flourish — without placing them within a coherent learning sequence. Our modules are designed to build letter knowledge cumulatively, so that each new script draws on skills and understanding developed in the previous one. We also provide ductus diagrams (stroke-order maps), dedicated spacing exercises, and substantive historical context — the kind of material that does not translate well to short-form video but is essential for developing real competence with a script.

Yes. The curriculum includes over 120 downloadable, printable practice sheets. Each sheet is designed for a specific module — some feature ruling lines calibrated to the nib width for that script, others contain ductus reference diagrams alongside blank practice rows. The sheets are formatted for standard letter-size paper (8.5 × 11 inches) and A4.
